Description :: UMD 2.4.0 is the 6th update of second Major release of UMD (Unified Middleware Distribution) made available for the EGI production infrastructure. This release supports Scientific Linux 5 & 6 and Debian 6 (Squeeze).

Job Execution services:

CREAM 1.14.2 released in SL5 and SL6:
  • Minor release containg several bug fixes especially related with the information service 
CREAM Torque 2.0.0-2 released in SL5 and SL6:
  • Minor release fixing the dependencies between the lcg-info-dynamic-scheduler-pbs  and the maui-client.
ARC-CE 2.0.1 released in SL5, SL6 and debian:
  • Release which contains many important bug fixes especially the one affecting the  nordugrid-arc-compute-element metapackage and the uploading of file due to problems in client.
WMS 3.4.0 released in SL5 and SL6:
  • Major release which introduces GLUE 2.0 support, integration with Condor 7.8.0, new DAG engine replacing the previous DAGMAN functionality and also support for RFC proxies.
  • Backwards incompatible
Client Tools:
ARC Clients 2.0.1 released in SL5, SL6 and debian:
  • Release which contains bugfix especially releated with arccp and arrsub memory issues.
Parallel Job:

gLite-MPI 1.4.0-1 released in SL5 and SL6
  • Support for MVAPICH2 with hydra or mpirun
  • Avoid using /tmp for creation of temporal files
  • Support for loading MPI implementation configuration with modules
Information Model & Information Discovery:
ARC InfoSys 2.0.1 eleased in SL5, SL6 and debian:
  • This release fixes some glue1.2/1.3 as well as it set the  Execution Environment mandatory values as imposed by GLUE2 LDAP latest schema.
Attribute & Authority:

VOMS 2.0.10-1 released in SL5 and SL6
  • This release addresses a security vulnerability
File Access, File Transfer & Storage Management:
DPM 1.8.6 released in SL5 and SL6
  • Minimal release, covering two security vulnerabilities recently reported. No new functionality has been introduced.
Metadata Catalogue:
LFC 1.8.6 released in SL5 and SL6
  • Minimal release, covering two security vulnerabilities recently reported. No new functionality has been introduced.
Client Tools:

GFAL/lcg_util 1.14.0 released in SL5 and SL6

  • The new version of GFAL/lcg_Utils provides the possibility to enable IPV6 in gfal 2.0 grisftp plugin by the config file implementation
  • Important fix related with the storm spacetoken which triggered timeouts.
Internal Libraries:

Gridsite 1.7.25 released in SL5 and SL6
  • This is a bugfix release for GridSite, addressing an issue with DigiCert proxy certificates.
IGE Technology Provider:

Metadata Catalogue:

Globus-rls 5.2.2 released in SL5, SL6 and debian:
  • This release adds a new  C library for replica registration, replica lookup, replica attributes, index queries, and administrative tasks. It also contains a new command line (globus-rls-cli) tool for client operations and a globus-rls-admin tool for administrative tasks.
Job Scheduling

GridWay 5.12.0 released in SL5, SL6 and debian:
  • BES and CREAM drivers have been improved.
  • Credential delegation for multiple users is now possible in BES interface.
  • A DRMAA2 C binding is provided.
Credential Management:

Globus-myproxy 5.9.1 released in SL5, SL6 and debian:
  • This release contains many new features related with the use of X.509 certificates.
Internal Libraries:
Security-Integration 2.2.1 released in SL5, SL6 and debian:
  • The current state of the mapping between various credentials and Unix accounts are stored in an open database on the disk, but this information could change over time through (regular) system administrative interventions. This state is now preserved in a relational database with the added benefit of being accessible by other systems, e.g. GridSAFE and build-up an easy to backup historic view on the mapping state. The schema can be used to link up account mapping and/or credential mapping results originating from other credential types and link up more fine grained details from the specific work environment, i.e. a Gatekeeper and GridFTPd will be able to add service specific information together with the mapping results.
Globus-Default-Security 5.2.2 released in SL5, SL6 and debian:
  • Uses internet-standard GSSAPI for security operations.
  • Supports certificate-based authentication, using both standard X.509 End Entity and Proxy Certificates.
  • Supports delegation of user rights to services using standard X.509 Proxy Certificates.
  • Supports authorization based on client certificate chains, including support for X.509v3 certificate extensions.
  • Provides tools for managing certificates, proxies, trust roots, and credential identity mapping tables.

Installation Notes ::

All products in the UMD 2.4.0 release were verified against EGI's current Quality Criteria (for further information, please see the documentation links) to support 64 bit Scientific Linux 5 and Scientific Linux 6 (x86_64 processor architecture). Some products are also supported in 64 bit Debian 6 (squeeze).  Installation and configuration notes are available in the EGI repository.
